The Sea Walls
Howe Sound's granite walls plunge straight from alpine to ocean - the same stone that draws climbers to the Stawamus Chief, seen from an angle most people never get. We'll run you along the base of the cliffs where waterfalls pour straight into the sea.
The Wildlife
The Sound's recovery is one of BC's great conservation stories. Harbour seals haul out on the rocks, bald eagles patrol the shoreline, sea lions pass through, and herons stalk the shallows. Every trip is different - that's the point.
Your Captain
Local, licensed, and on these waters year-round. You're not following a script - your captain reads the day's conditions and wildlife activity and takes you where the Sound is putting on a show.
Getting Here
Tours depart from Squamish, an hour north of Vancouver on the Sea to Sky Highway. Coming from the city? Ask about departures from Porteau Cove - 20 minutes closer and right off Highway 99.
Tour FAQ
How much does a Howe Sound boat tour cost?
The 2-3 hour Wildlife Tour is $375 for up to 3 guests, plus $79 per additional guest. The 4-5 hour Half-Day Explorer is $625 for up to 3 guests, plus $129 per additional guest. Full-day and custom charters are quoted per trip - call (604) 849-8898.
What wildlife will we see?
Harbour seals, bald eagles, sea lions, and herons are the regulars, with dolphins and whales passing through on occasion as the Sound's marine recovery continues. Wildlife is wild - no guarantees, but our captain knows where to look.
Do you run sunrise and sunset tours?
Yes - and they're the best trips we do. Calm water, golden light, and the fjord to yourself. Sunrise and sunset departures are available on request from Squamish or directly from Porteau Cove.
Can we bring more than 3 people?
Yes - extra guests are $79 per person on the 2-3 hour Wildlife Tour and $129 per person on the longer tours. Call us with your group size and we'll sort out the details.
What should we bring?
Dress in layers - it's cooler on the water than on shore, even in summer. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera. Life jackets and all safety gear are provided.
